All of the rooms are private and spacious, and many open out onto a peaceful garden setting.  It features a large community room where family members and patients can eat and relax together.  There are pull-out couches in every room so that loved ones can sleep over, as well as facilities for them to cook or shower.  Visiting hours are unrestricted, and family and friends can stay with a patient 24/7 if desired.

It is the only facility of its kind in the state of Connecticut.

The Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence is owned and operated by Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, and is located at 100 Shelburne Rd, behind Stamford Hospital.  It is an ideal facility for hospice patients who live alone, or for families who cannot manage the care of a loved one at home. The Residence is a important alternative for patients who need round-the-clock nursing attention.

It has been described as “as oasis of peace and healing” and “the most loving place on earth”  by families who have experienced the extraordinary care that the Residence is known for.

As with our home hospice program, the services offered at the Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence include skilled nursing care, bereavement counseling, physical therapy, medical social work, home health aide services and pastoral care.  Please call VNHC’s office to arrange for a tour of the Residence, or to schedule a pre-admission visit. 203-276-3000.
